An outstanding vocal performance tonight from Alexey Markov. As the painter Marcello, the baritone upheld the excellent impression he had made as Chorebus in LES TROYENS at Carnegie Hall in March 2010. The voice is warm, sizeable and speaks well in the big House. We should hear him at the Met more frequently, where is would be most welcome in any number of roles.

Alexey Markov has shown the best singing in a cavatina «Il Ballen del suo sorriso». Emotions in a combination to a bewitching timbre, feeling of a phrase and a wide spectrum of paints distinguished his performance.

... his unique Onegin is exposed in the final scene, like a palm, which was removed of the glove: fragile, lost, mad, contradicting himself. Markov sings excellently, using the complicated phrases for drawing the text.
